Deep Cleanings

Deep cleanings also known as scaling root planning, are performed when a patient has an active periodontal disease or gum problems.
It is to control mild periodontitis to progress to moderate and moderate to severe periodontitis. The deep cleaning process involves cleaning the plaque, and tartar/buildup not just from the top of teeth, which is visible in the mouth but also from underneath the gum tissue. In this process, for the comfort of the patient, some sort of local anesthesia is used.
Patients who have needle phobia can request our no-needle anesthesia and can be as comfortable as, they can be with the anesthesia which uses the needles.
This process is usually completed in 2 visits, however, if the patient’s need only indicates the localized surfaces demanding the same, the process can be finished in one visit, depending on the patient’s comfort.
Deep cleaning a.k.a Scaling root planning is important in keeping the patient’s periodontal health at its optimum.
Many articles have already proved the importance of keeping the gum healthy, as it is related to a patient’s overall systemic health too.
As the saying goes “Healthy Mouth- Healthy Body.”
